The course is on the existence of errant domains for polynomials in C^2, but there is some work where the component functions in C^2 involve rational maps, for example, the Blaschke products ?. Perhaps, the invariance of the circle could make a difference or perhaps facilitate the study of the existence of such domains, it is just an intuition.
