Evolutionary Robotics

I got my Ph.D. degree at the University of Kent at Canterbury, Canterbury, Kent - UK. Click here to download a PDF copy of my Thesis entitled: Development of an Embedded Evolutionary Controller to Enable Collision-Free Navigation of a Population of Autonomous Mobile Robots.

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação - ICMC of the University of São Paulo - USP, São Carlos city, São Paulo, Brazil. I am conducting my research at the Reconfigurable Computing Laboratory.

My main interest is the development of Embedded Hardware for the implementation of Adaptive Systems for Autonomous Mobile Robots. More specifically, Evolutionary Controllers for cooperative teams of Real Robots. I am also integrating in my research the areas of Bio-inspired Systems, Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, and Dynamically Reconfigurable Hardware (FPGAs).
